National Cyber Security Awareness Month
The internet is a big place, and cyber criminals can use it in clever ways to get what they want. It is vitally important to make safe online and physical security practices part of your daily routines to help keep your personal information secure.
Where do you start? How do you know if your information is in any potential danger? One great resource is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)‡. Observed every October, NCSAM was created as a collaborative effort to:
- Engage and educate through cyber security events and programs
- Ensure everyone has the resources needed to be safer and more secure online
- Provide a clear plan of action in the event of a cyber incident
During this month special emphasis will be put on tips that can help you keep your personal and professional information out of the hands of cyber criminals. Take a look at the infographic below to help you avoid becoming a victim of a cyber threat.
Since its inception under leadership from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security‡ and the National Cyber Security Alliance, NCSAM has grown exponentially, reaching consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, educational institutions and young people across the nation. October 2017 marks the 14th year of NCSAM.
