Mobile Web Banking FAQs

What is Mobile Web Banking?
Mobile Web Banking enables you to retrieve information and manage your bank accounts from a mobile device using its Web browsing function. UMB’s Mobile Web Banking is accessed with a User ID and Password by browsing to m.umb.com. Mobile Web Banking offers many of the same features that are available in Online Banking, but is optimized for viewing on a mobile device.

What do I need to use UMB Mobile Web?
To access UMB Mobile Web, you must:

  • Have a User ID and Password, which may be used to access both Mobile Banking and Online Banking
  • Be registered for our Mobile Banking service and have at least one verified mobile device
  • Have a mobile device that supports Web browsing functionality
  • Have a wireless data plan with your mobile carrier

How do I access UMB Mobile Web?
From your mobile phone’s browser, simply type in m.umb.com and then log on using your User ID and Password. You may be presented with a security question when logging on to UMB Mobile Web in certain circumstances as determined by our security program.

Why was I asked a security question?
Authentication is an integral part of the security of UMB Mobile Web, which utilizes the same security standards used by UMB Online Banking. When enrolling for our Mobile Banking and/or Online Banking service, you are asked to create security questions and answers that we use in order to verify your identity.

How do I activate my mobile device?
If you are not an Online Banking user and you wish to use Mobile Banking, you must:

  1. Go to umb.com/mobile and click “Enroll Now.”
  2. Read the UMB Mobile Banking Service Agreement and accept it by clicking on the checkbox and then select Continue.
  3. You will be prompted to Enable the accounts for which you would like to receive Mobile Text Alerts, assign a nickname for each account, and then select Save.

Choose short nicknames that are easy to type on your mobile device, as you will be entering them regularly while using the Mobile Text Alerts service (for example, CH1, CH2, CC, SAV).
  4. You can change your default account by using the links in the right column and then selecting Save at the bottom of the page. (You can edit your accounts and nicknames at any time by selecting the Accounts tab from the Preference Center Overview page.)

How soon do I have to enter the verification code?
You have up to 15 minutes to enter the verification code in the Preference Center. After that time, your code will expire and you will need to request a new verification code. Tip:
Choose short nicknames that are easy to type on your mobile device, as you will be entering them regularly while using the Mobile Text Alerts service (for example, CH1, CH2, CC, SAV).

Your mobile account nicknames will not replace the account names or nicknames that are defined within Online Banking, should you choose to use our Online Banking service.
