UMB Visa® Chip Card
Benefits of Your Chip Card:
Chip cards contain a computer chip which securely stores the card data that currently resides on the magnetic stripe. The computer chips enables more secure processing by producing a one-time use code, known as a cryptogram, for each transaction.
Chip card cryptograms are unique to each transaction, making the card difficult to counterfeit. If your chip card is lost or stolen, the chip card data cannot be used to create counterfeit cards. Even in the event of theft, chip cardholders are still protected from fraudulent purchases with Visa’s Zero Liability policy1.
Accepted in the United States
Chip-enabled terminals will soon replace swipe terminals in the United States. You may continue swiping your card when a chip-enabled terminal is not available, and will be ready to go when one is.
Chip cards are accepted in over 130 countries; with approximately one billion chip cards in circulation and 36.9 million chip-enabled terminals worldwide. Keep in mind that certain unattended terminals, such as public transportation kiosks, will not be able to accept your new chip and signature card. Simply find an attendant and ask them to assist you.
